Nestled in one of Lethbridge’s most beloved neighbourhoods, this Tudor home was reimagined for a busy, welcoming household. The kitchen bridges classic elegance with modern sophistication through white inset cabinetry, marble countertops, and statement lighting. A home already full of character now has a kitchen worthy of it.
This project involved a classic, older Tudor home with a traditional, heavily compartmentalized layout that felt closed off and restrictive. The homeowner wanted to completely tear down the walls between the kitchen and dining room to create a sprawling, open-concept entertainment hub. She also had one non-negotiable dream: she wanted authentic marble surfaces throughout her kitchen, a choice most standard design advice warns against due to its delicate, high-maintenance nature in a working culinary space.
Instead of fighting her on the marble or enforcing rigid, generic design rules, I listened to how she actually intended to use the space. She candidly shared that she wasn’t a heavy cook; for her, the kitchen was primarily an elegant backdrop for hosting and entertaining. Recognizing that the lifestyle matched the material, I made the call to embrace the marble wholeheartedly as the artistic anchor of the room. We paired that stunning material story with a massive structural shift, dropping the dividing walls to seamlessly blend the historic character of the Tudor architecture with a grand, free-flowing entertainment layout.
By designing for the client’s actual life rather than an industry stereotype, she got a home that met her exact lifestyle without unnecessary compromise. The house retained its historic soul while gaining a breathtaking, open-concept flow where she could host guests effortlessly, surrounded by the exact materials she loved.
