Designed for a builder’s Parade of Homes, the Sunridge Show Home became one of the most visited-and revisited-homes that year. From rich wenge wood details to an illuminated vanity and hand-laid pebble surround, every space was elevated beyond the expected. Highly finished and beautifully functional, this was a project where design truly got to lead.
As the inaugural showhome for a new builder in Lethbridge, Janus Homes, the goal was to create a standout property that would capture the public’s imagination, drive foot traffic, and set a new benchmark for local residential design. Rather than just selecting surface finishes, I was given full autonomy to design the complete layout of the space from the studs up.
I made the call to reject predictable floor plans and instead focus heavily on architectural volume, spatial movement, and integrated warmth. I anchored the design with rich Wenge wood accents and custom-built ceiling beams that guided the eye naturally through the house, creating an exciting, fluid sense of discovery from room to room. To prove what thoughtful engineering could do, we packed the layout with hyper-functional, custom details: an ensuite vanity with integrated lighting, a built-in tub surround, a dedicated dog food station, and custom recycling centers.
The home became a sensation, recording the highest number of visits of any showhome in the city that year, with families returning multiple times just to experience the layout again. By pairing a warm, architectural aesthetic with seamless, intuitive flow, we didn’t just showcase a house, we demonstrated how an intelligent layout completely elevates the daily experience of living.
